Quality Control Biochemist

Join BIO-CAT’s dynamic team as a Quality Control Biochemist, where you will play a key role in ensuring the quality and performance of enzyme products. This position is ideal for candidates interested in applying biochemical knowledge in a hands-on laboratory environment. You will work closely with production and research teams to maintain product quality and support continuous improvement efforts. Training will be provided to learn BIO-CAT’s proprietary enzyme assays and quality control methods.

The role is IN OFFICE at our Troy, Virginia location (no remote work) with hours Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Must be eligible to work in the United States.

Duties & Job Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine and non-routine analysis of enzyme samples to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Perform enzyme activity assays and interpret results to assess product quality.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all quality control tests and procedures.
  • Prepare technical reports, summaries, and protocols related to enzyme quality control.
  • Collaborate with production and research teams to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards in all QC processes.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment used in enzyme analysis.
  • Participate in internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and support.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality control methodologies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to enzyme quality testing.
  • Monitor and manage inventory of QC supplies and reagents.
  • Maintain organized databases and laboratory records of test results.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field required.
  • Laboratory experience through coursework, internships, or industry experience preferred.
  • Basic laboratory skills and familiarity with analytical techniques such as spectrophotometry, HPLC, or similar methods.
  • Strong understanding of biochemical assays and enzyme activity testing is preferred.
  • Proficiency with computer systems, spreadsheets, and data analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and quality standards.
