Senior Analytical Scientist

BIO-CAT R&D is seeking a Senior Analytical Scientist. In this role, you will conduct research with a focus on development of new quantitative analytic methods to support studies of mammalian digestive physiology and gut health. In this role, you will work individually and collaboratively to develop, plan, and execute enzyme hydrolysis assays and digestion simulations and effectively communicate results to stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated experience with liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS)
  • Master’s or PhD degree required.

Senior Fermentation Scientist

BIO-CAT Microbials is a GMP fermentation company in Shakopee, MN that specializes in the manufacturing of food-grade Bacillus-based products for use in crop agriculture and human and animal nutrition. We are SQF certified and have on-site fermentation with downstream product processing including centrifugation, spray drying, and blending. From soil inoculants to animal health and probiotics, we strive for quality and integrity with every custom solution we produce.

We are seeking a senior fermentation scientist to join our research and development team. The fermentation scientist will conduct research with a focus on development of new bioprocesses and optimization of existing fermentation processes for bacterial spore production. In this role, you will work individually and collaboratively to develop, plan, and execute fermentation experimental designs at lab and pilot scales and effectively communicate results to key stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in biochemical engineering, chemical engineering, industrial microbiology or biochemistry or related field
  • Working knowledge and evidence of fed-batch process development (media optimization)
  • 3-5+ years of experience with commercial scale (10,000 L or higher) bioreactors (familiarity with operating, troubleshooting, process optimization)
  • Demonstrated experience with technology transfer
    • Experience with technology transfer from lab scale to pilot and commercial scales
    • Experience with designing scale-down model to simulate fermentation environmental condition of commercial-scale vessel
    • Integrate and interpret fermentation results among shake flask, lab-scale, pilot-scale, and commercial-scale system

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Will require some flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, as fermentation processes often do not follow rigid schedules.
